The book of Revelation is fascinating, confusing,
terrifying, and hopeful. Many have avoided studying
the book because they get confused by the symbolism and
don't understand the order of events. Others have
avoided studying the book of Revelation because they are
terrified of the events that take place in the book and are
fearful of the future.
God has assured Christians that we are not to suffer the
wrath of God and this applies to the book of Revelation as
well. The judgments that fall on mankind are a part of
the Tribulation and are a judgment for the depravity of
mankind. In the book of Revelation we also see the
depths of depravity that mankind has fallen to as judgment
after judgment occurs, the people acknowledge that it is
from God, and still refuse to repent.
The book of Revelation is also a book of tremendous hope.
It is a story of the victory of Jesus over sin, death, and
Satan. The just are rewarded and the evil are punished
for their deeds. Justice is carried out once and for
all as every deed is accounted for, both good and bad.
There is no escaping the justice of God regardless what it
may appear like while here on earth.
In Revelation not only do we see the armies of heaven
completely defeating Satan and his followers but we also see
a beautiful picture of heaven. We are given a glimpse
of the wonder and majesty of what it is like around the
throne of God. We also are told of the New Jerusalem
and even given the measurements of the city.
This study of Revelation will be rewarding for all who
desire to take part in it. It breaks down what the
Bible really says and cross references passages in the book
of Revelation with the words of other prophets of the Bible
as well. It lays out the prophecies of Revelation
chronologically so that anyone can understand what is taking
place, when it is taking place, and why it is taking place.
Most importantly, the book of Revelation is a reward unto
itself as Revelation 22:7 says "Blessed is he who keeps the
words of the prophecy in this book." Our reward is the
assurance that God will reward the just and punish the
wicked. We have a wonderful hope that is laid out for
us in this book.
Enjoy your journey through the book of Revelation and may
you be blessed by it.
